Insulin cooler June 29, 2008 D. Fox (Pennsylvania) 6 out of 6 found this review helpful
This product is awesome. I travel a lot & there is no more fooling around with ice & wrapping the bottles so they do not freeze. I've also had insulin freeze before while in motel freezers before because the setting on fridge wasn't adjusted correctly. Not a problem or worry now. I do volunteer trips to disaster areas & have had my ice packs thrown out or misplaced in the freezer by others....not knowing my situation. I can keep the Frio with my stuff until I'm ready to travel again. I just soak it in water & it's ready. There is no thawing on long car trips or flights!
good device if used properly May 7, 2007 William L. Keating (texas) 6 out of 7 found this review helpful
I spent 60 days on the road on my motorcycle. I didn't think I could go 60 days camping with out airconditioning. Shade and air flow were the key, I had no problems with insulin going bad, not one of the 2 vials and 2 pens I took with me.
Again, USED AS DIRECTED, a GREAT find! April 28, 2010 Heidi (Plymouth, MN USA) I'm about to buy my 7th & 8th FRIO pouches. Have used for over 6 yrs, in freezing MN winter, hot CA summer & in Italy on vac, when ice wasn't always available. Being diabetic 45 yrs (don't remember life w/o it), I've owned almost every cooling unit invented. FRIO pouches keep my Lantus & Humalog pens at steady cool temps whatever the weather. I use one for my purse (yes, for ME it works great - recool every 3-4 days for 8-9 mos, then as gel slowly breaks down, need to recool every 2-3 days til I tire of looking @ dirty outside pouch & replace w/new one.) Mine tend to last well over a yr, but I don't wash to outer pouch more then 3-4x/yr. You really DON'T want to inject ice cold insulin, do you? Ever wonder why some get a little bump post-injection? Ice cold insulin & an injection speed Speedy Gonzalez would envy. I'll happily argue with Kathleen/MA that I'm GLAD I have to buy both pieces ea time, as the interior of a busy diabetic/mom's purse is a nightmare! :) And the individual who used it first for the dog's insulin is right - it'll maintain temp longer in serious heat if kept outside of a purse/backpack. As an active working MN resident, I choose to do it differently. I've stood up for FRIO products for many years. TRY IT, follow instructions, & have a great/SAFE life!
Cool your insulin. June 2, 2010 C. Bledsoe This Frio Cooling wallet is the best item I have found to cool my insulin on long motorcycle trips. I travel across the country and spend hours in the saddle and have never lost a bottle or pen of insulin due to heat. Wonderful product and I highly recommend it to every diabetic that must carry insulin.
COOL April 27, 2008 Kathleen T. Rousseau (MA) 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This is the 2nd pouch that I have ordered. It is the right size to fit in your purse and keeps the insulin pen cool. I purchased another brand (poucho) and was very disapointed...the cooling pouch only lasted for several months. The previous Frio pouch I had lasted over a year....the one drawback to these pouches is that when you need a new one you have to purchase the whole package, when the outer cover is still in good shape. This product should be offered as a package or as individual items.
